Introduction to Shakespeare
Shakespeare brought to life, and made fun & understandable
CONTENT: This highly successful workshop has been developed over a number of years, and allows participation at every stage, as pupils join the four professional actors in their exploration and demonstration of Shakespeare at his most accessible and entertaining.
The Workshop includes actors' warm-up games, the way Shakespeare uses language, the witches scene from Macbeth, and the shipwreck scene from The Tempest enacted with members of the audience taking part. The pupils then 'direct' the comedy Caliban, Trinculo, Stephano scene from The Tempest. They then enjoy the comedy of Bottom transforming in to an ass from A Midsummer Night's Dream, with some of the audience playing the fairy servants. . Finally the duel scene from Romeo & Juliet is thrillingly enacted.
The Workshop ends with an opportunity for pupils to break into small groups to question the actors further.
